It is an LSD, but I'm unsure what brakes this uses.

It measures 1500mm across from outside of flange to outside of flange.

Looks like disc to me, based on the bolting points behind the axle face. I'm not 100% certain though.

... VERY strange axle tube there

but the bracket on the end? looks like it for a disc brake caliper

Has diff been narrowed or modified? Any other pics or info?

1500mm sounds kinda wide for an early girl then add more width for brakes

It might have been narrowed at some point, I'm unsure what it's previous life was spent doing so I had it rebuilt just in case. Plan is for it to go into a VH.

I've got no experience with live commo axles. But does the 4bolt plate behind the drive hub take a drum backing plate?
That was my first thought before everyone else said disc

Sure it's a Salisbury diff? Looks very similar to a Borg Warner Diff out of an XE onwards Falcon....The caliper set up on those have the bracket that bolts inbetween the diff tube and axle...

Bolt a commodore wheel onto the axle to confirm it is a commodore diff

Yes the 1500mm measurement is for gen 1 commodore and looking at the 2 welds, the wheel hub has a longer tapered tube bit than a standard salisbury factory diff, so looks to have been welded on.

The 4 bolt axle plate is the same for disc/drum, both drum/disc plates have the same 4 bolt pattern, though from memory the larger 10 bolt diff has a different axle bearing/seal

the end looks the same as that I took it out of a v8 vc, it was a 2.6 ratio or something stupid like that no good for a young city bloke

I got one of those hidden under a workbench too.
