the problems we have with the hoons here is they don't just do burnout's etc, they are actually causing damage to public places and leavaing lots of mess like broken beer bottles everywhere. there is also the concern that a lot of deisel is put on public roads that cause accidents later, there was a case a few months ago when a cop car went into an intersection where diesel had been put down and lost control.....caught by TV news camera too. i don't condone hooning but i'm sure we have all done something silly in our past. my missus hates the fact that sometimes when i'm bored i still hang the car out a little sideways. i don't evenreally notice as it's only a little. i don't do big burnouts in the middle of the street or do dougnuts etc, nor do i street race. i sometimes drive hard when i'm tryingto get somewhere in a hurry but i stil obey the road rules..... we all gota live a little right.

Quite right... its the damage to public property, even if you say you've never damaged anything, there is nothing in place to STOP you from damaging anything or hurting yourself... you could hit a pothole or some crap on the road and who knows what could happen... if you go to the track, its controlled circumstances and safety is always paramount.

Dont say that in the industrial estate at 1AM nobody can get hurt... YOU can get hurt, and then your FAMILY gets hurt, and the POLICE get involved, and the VOLUNTEERS of the ambulance service are TRAUMATISED when they have to SCRAPE YOUR ASS OFF THE BITUMEN.

Certainly has stirred up some debate. The thing I would like to know is why defend it? If you have seen the interviews about the new series Dangerous it's almost the same thing. The guy defends his character like it isnt illegal or dangerous to do ram raids. Hooning is both illegal and dangerous regardless of where and when it is done. If it is on a track then it is in a controlled environment and is not considered hooning. Speaking of which, a VK just 'hooned' past the front of my work, tyres squealing, yobbo with his arm out the window and fist in the air. All it would take is a misjudgement and he would have ploughed into a row of new cars. Or worse, into an oncoming car or a house across the road and hurt somebody.

The police have to get serious with their fines, and start to hit them where it hurts. Take their cars flog them at auctions. simple. I know alot of people here will say "oh c'mon that crap" but they know the law they can read, just though. If you break the law you get dealt with is that a hard concept??? Take their cars off them they will learn, it will eventually penetrate their ape like skulls. Dunno why the coppers are **** farting around and dont get serious.

Wow, I havent checked this post all day, it took off well
O.k, too those who say that older people are hypocritical, maybe thats true, im only 26. I admit that I was a hoon when I got my licence, but I wanted to get into cars more so I went and and watched some racing and decided that I wanted to do it that way, in a safe legal place.
I also have to travel to race, I have to hire a trailer $40, fuel my tow car $40ish, pay to enter $50, fuel the race car $45 and feed the missus and 3 kids. I am willing to tow my car for 6 hours if need be. Before anyone goes saying that I must be loaded, WRONG. I have a hoon bug so I save my best to do what I love in the right envrionment and hopefully my 3 children will have this rub off on to them aswell. If I have to wait 3 months or more before I can have a blast thats what ill do.
As far as People saying that tracks should become more available, THATS A DARN GOOD IDEA. I suppose if I didnt have my enthusiasim and a track an hour away, I may still hoon on public land.
And finally, I feel sorry for those who dont have a track close by.

Uhhhh this is so stupid......

Its amazing how many of you can sit there and wow us with your "i don't do that ****, i take it to the track".... Jeese, shut up.

Hooning....

[REASONS]
1. People think its cool.... im not going to lie to you, i love burnouts... crowds love burnouts.... 1500 people at noble park love burnouts. Its like fasion, you wear the clothes to impress other people.

2. Self Satisfaction... It feels good to rip a skid or powerslide round a corner. Theres nothing like coming out of cloud of self produced smoke from your rears. It makes you feel like you've achieved something. Youve harnessed the power of your car and done some tricks on it... its like doiong a flip on a pushie or a backside tailslide.... hooning makes you feel good.

3. Defiance... The old saying that rules are ment to be broken. You set boudarys and someones gonna try and break them. You have laws and the same thing happens. It s human nature to want to lead and not follow... its human to want to have free will. "Hoons" dont like to be controlled and so "dropping a skid" is there way of standing up to opression. Some people just dont want to follow the rules...

4. Bordem.... Ever just got bored and wanted a thrill??? Its like when you drop the clutch at set of lights and fly up to the speed limit. Thrashing a car can be instigated from bordem. People with nothing better to do are likely to go do wheelies.

5. Adrenalin Rush (See Self Satisfaction - Similar) Like jumping out of a plane or skiing down a big ass hill, drag racing (be it legal or not) is a rush. The first time i did a burn out, my legs were shaking for ages!!!! It was scary as all **** but i loved it... same with handbrakies, powerslides, doughies, skids, drags, fishies... whatever.... it gets the blood moving.

6. Lack of Alternatives... Ok, the definition of hooning is funny as its the same as pro car racing except its done on streets not tracks. Drag racing and the likes is completly legal on tacks but not on the streets... so.... a hoon is just an enthuisist with no where to go, not EVERYONE can "take it to the track".. maybe because there isn't one!

The point of the this thread is "why do people hoon?"... not "what are the alternatives to hooning" or "why im better than a hoon" or "hoons are young kids".... PLEASE! just for once, stay on topic in a thread like this. Its liek the P plater threads, the older selfrightious get stuck in and all hell brakes loose.

on a side note, sorry for being hpyocrytical, but governments are always after solutions and never prevention. Its usually a bandaid quick fix to stay in parliament. Sorry, but no one cares. The vast majority of voters are not hoons so natuarlly, the party wants to favour the people that are gonna get them the seats. People genrally dont like "legal on track hooning" so a supportive fix wont happen, it will be supression, and its gonna start with younger drivers.

Oh and - Parenting: Parenting has alot to do with life, not one specific action of a parent will cause a knee jerk reaction, infact, its a combinatins of events over the course of the developing years which contributes to the genaral common sence and attitudes of youths. The people that break into video stores are brought up wrong, not becasue their parents didnt say not to but becasue they weren't taought respect and right from wrong. again there is no one key problem to a persons attitude.

sorry, one last thing... noble park.... yeah, there were hoons there, but the vast majority were just fk wits. There is a major difference between vandels/rioters and hoons. They can often be the same thing but it is improtant that the two do not get confused.

I have hoonish tendacys, but i dont fk up cops or shops. Get my drift?

Sorry For the essay.... actaually no im not.... but im gald you read it.

aZk.

giving your baby abit of a push at the lights isnt exactly hooning, xcellerating hard for one or two gears is all i do,i let off when im AT SPEED eg80kms,and only when its at nite or theres not many other road users around.full drags for 3-4 hund mtrs then i totally agree with u guys because then ud obviously be doing way ova the limit.cars, especially performance cars were designd to be given a kick here and ther,im sure evryone whos posted here is guilty of this.otherwise ppl who-lose traction, swerve+overtaking, tailgating, speeding xcessivly(i do stay above the limit by 5ks always-if possible)just to stay with the flow,i hate ppl who dordle and hold every other road user back! these are the real hoons and i culdnt agree with evryone more.
