thanks man, i forgot now, i googled it a while back and no one knew the answer on how to solve it. my other problem is that, usually when loading something, the mouse becomes real jerky. my assumption is something is interrupting the processor so much that it affects the mouse movement. it's all hardware related - i can reformat a million times and i get the exact same problems. i have my suspicions, crappy gigabyte motherboard, dodgy ram, processor. no point replacing any of those components because it's all outdated and non transferable to a new pc if i got one.

Yer...definaltey sounds hardware related. If your mouse stutters, its because the cpu is maxed out. Though it should never get to that stage...sounds like your hardware is dieing but you are right. Could be any one of the things you have mentioned. If you want to rule out your ram try running a "mem test" and running prime95 to see if ur cpu is alright.

some basics for you.

download memtest86+ and burn to CD. Start the computer and allow it to boot from the CD. This program will tell you if your ram is playing up. I find this is one of the most common problems for blue screens on older computers (bung RAM or bung DDR/DDRII ram slot on the mainboard). The second most common issue is drivers not up to date or conflicting with other installed hardware or corupt programs (software).

PM me if you want me to to a remote diagnostic on it.

yeah i've done memtest before, no issues there, also tried manually running the computer with 1 stick in it at a time in each slot and i get the same issues. drivers are always 100% up to date. it's unexplainable. i can't remember how long ago it was that i ran memtest though, and for how long, so i'll give it another crack tonight and leave it on all night.

i dug up my google searches and found the error, IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL. doing a google search on it and all the links are purple haha. never found the issue and just living with it now.
