Hey guys thinking of getting some new gears and was thinking about 3.7's as it is a daily driver street car. How would they go ? ALso with high stalls what is the diff between a lockup and non lockup ? which one would be better for a street car ???

I assume you've got an auto?? I'd go 3.9's with that(or 6 speed manual). Otherwise 3.7's'd be the go with a T5'er....:)

By 3.5's i assume you mean 3.45's, there wont be much difference in those and 3.7s.
If its slow with the gears you have now i'd be going 3.9s

3.7's with a t5'r ? what does that mean ? Yes it is a rebuilt auto box with stage 2 shift kit and race internals, bands, servo's ect. i pretty sure it has 3.5's in it. At 100k's it sits on 2 grand revs... How much fuel efficent will i loose ?

i just bought a v8 vs ute with 3.7's in the diff. it was very quick in off the line and had no problems sliding out halfway through second gear, but i personally found that it revved a little bit too high for my liking on the freeway, and fuel consumption was around 19-20L per 100km. I just put 3.45 gears in last week, and its definately not as quick off the line, nor does it light up the tyres so easily, but fuel consumption has gone down and i feel a bit better with it revving lower on the freeway. Hope this helps with your decision.

Do you know what it was reving at when sitting on 100k's when you had the 3.7's ? Now that you have 3.5's what does it sit on at 100k's ?

VN V6, nothing special
what does your rev at now? then devide that by your diff ratio, then times it by the new diff ratio (e.g 3.7 or 3.45 whatever)

e.g 1850/3.08 = 600.64
600.64x3.7 = 2222.36 <<----- what it will rev at.....

thats just an example

Matt the stock 3.08s sit on almost 2 grand so it sounds like you have the stock 3.08's in it. 3.45s add a couple hundred revs. With a 284 or any cam that looses torque in the low/mid range it's well worth going to at least 3.45s, you wont need to go more than 3.7 on that combo really
