That doesn't sound good at all. Mine was simply a sharp joint on the dipstick, which was shaving little metal curls from inside the dipstick tube. Filed the dipstick and it was fixed.
If you've lost oil pressure, it's a problem with your oil pump. Get the oil pressure checked with a guage and sorted asap. I wouldn't drive it with low oil pressure. Not at all. Once fixed get a magnetic sump plug and check it for metal fragments.
