This may sound stupid but check the coupler from the drive shaft to the diff. I had a mate change the diff in my 06 calais v8 to a lsd and the prick left 3 bolts loose (and i mean on their last thread loose) , had a shudder through the car and pedal but nothing when free revs . Worth a try :-)
i just changed the diff on my 2006 calais v 6ltr (auto) from a 2.92 non lsd to a 3.45 lsd much nicer to drive quicker off the line, more pull in lower gears and on the open road runs about 200rpm higher at 110 kph :-)
i have a 2006 Calais v 6ltr and have thrown the air con belt a few times (normally when i give it a good thrash :-) ) 2 min fix to refit it not worth worrying about :-)
Hi there just a link from the nz herald, on stealing late model commodores .

Ive just bought a 2006 VE Calais V 6.0 , and love it. A bit of a step up from my 95 VS s bucket v8 ute lol
Also done the short aerial and now looking and new engine covers and carbon fibre engine bay trim.
hi there i have the same prob in my ute(vs v8) but only when i run 98 octane, running 95 i get no smell. Have checked all fuel lines, breather in the fuel tank , but have had no luck
