2011 SV6 Series 2 VE - Slow crank after being driven for a while ( wont start)

You ask for help then give answers like this? I don't believe you tested properly. If you did, what parameter did you use? What unit of measurement? What setting in the meter? What condition did your test under?

2011 SV6 Series 2 VE - Slow crank after being driven for a while ( wont start)

can you tell me how you did this and what the parameters were? How did you test for resistance? What was the result? under what conditions did you check the voltage? Starting circuits are very current-heavy and need to be tested using the right method.

Elec short? Parking lights coming on when braking.

Common mistake with easy fix. You have installed a single pin bulb into a two-pin socket. The single pin bulb shorts the two pins in the socket and sends brake light power back up the park light circuit. Common mistake made by people. You will want to check the locking slots on the side of...

    Coolant Temp sensor weird data

There nothing wrong with your car. -40 is exactly what it should read when it's unplugged. It's programmed to do this by holden.

    U0121 - Fault ( Need Help )

This is a communication fault being detected by the ABS module. There's no fault with any brake sensors or the brake fluid/ hoses. It could be caused by a bad power or ground to the module, or a bad communication wire between it and other modules (or even within itself). It may also be a bad...

    Code p 1028

What have you tested so far? What is the actual temperature that the engine is running at when this DTC appears? I don't mean what the scan tool is telling you, but rather what temperature the coolant is. Use a thermo coupling under a coolant hose and check the temperature when the DTC appears...

deadlocked passenger and both rear doors.

You can force the front door to momentarily unlock by force-turning the key in the door lock in the unlock direction and pulling on the handle while forced. You will swear the lock won't turn any further, but it will if you are careful. You will see the snib raise slightly and the exterior...

VP brake lights turn on with headlights

Are you sure you don't have a single pin bulb in a double pin socket? Check all brake lights. I've seen this a hundred times.

Did you install the clutch plate the correct way around? Back to front will cause this symptom.

    Clean the brake master cylinder

I've found a diagram that makes my point that the abs circuit is sealed during normal braking. Looks a bit dodgy, but the best I can do with my phone while sitting on the couch. Green is the normal braking system, red is the sealed internal ABS lines. I've left the original so that you can...

    Clean the brake master cylinder

Paragraph one is a precise interpretation of my post. I stand by this statement. Paragraph two is you drawing a conclusion from somewhere that is incorrect. Nowhere did I say it is unnecessary to bleed the brakes.

    Clean the brake master cylinder

Not true. The only way air can enter the abs modulator is if you operate the abs without sufficient fluid available. Otherwise, it is completely sealed from the normal braking circuit by valves. You can flush the system in your driveway to bleed fluid or flush out air in the normal circuit. No...

2009 Holden ve HSV 2 step

It would need extra wiring and relays, or an extra switch to make it work. It's not made to work with a manual transmission. It would be even more difficult to adjust, keep adjusted and use, as the clutch engagement point would change as it wears. Ie at what clutch pedal position would you...

2011 VE SV6 - Dead ECU? Clicking noise and wont crank

My VF SV6 fuel door sticker would like to disagree. Yep, just checked. Definitely compatible. Pretty sure it was also available on late VEs as well.

    o2 bank 2 sensor 2 problem

So, all o2 sensors are telling you that the exhaust is lean, but you think all o2 sensors are faulty? Forget the sensors for now. Start diagnosing your lean exhaust gas problem. Fuel pressure low? Air leak in manifold? Air leak in exhaust? Dirty/ faulty MAF?

    BCM and slip ring

I remember from holden training that the slip ring is only used if the car hasn't been unlocked with the key remote in the last 45 seconds. In other words, the keyless entry action deactivates the immobiliser for 45 seconds. The live data showing temporary communication with the slip ring...

2003 Vy commodore v6 3.8 L ecotec any recommendations on what I can do to stop this drop of oil

No need to drain the oil, just plug it with your finger and have an assistant change the washer and hand it back to you. I prefer to use crush washers or O rings on sumps and solid washers on fill points ie diffs. Solids don't seal well without sufficient torque.

What do the O2 sensors tell you? What do LTFT (long term fuel trim) numbers look like?

    which way pcv valve?

Blow through it - it should have a one way valve inside it. Align it so air flows out of the engine into the inlet manifold.

Dex III as an engine flush

Career mechanic here. The only people that benefit from engine flush are the manufacturer and retailer of the flush product. Just change your oil regularly. If your engine has sludge, it requires more work than pouring a bottle in the top can fix. Any particles attached to engine components...

    Ve service light wont remove

Ignition on and press accelerator pedal to the floor three times within five seconds. This is for the service reminder light. MIL will need a scan tool to reset in most cases, but I don't think you mean this.

    Need help (I messed up)

Don't drill any more. Hold a nut over the remaining bolt and plug weld the hole with a mig to give you something to unscrew the remaining bolt with. Use a spanner to remove the bolt. The bolt wasn't seized, so it should come out fairly easily.

    Confused

Could also be your battery. Low voltage will do all sorts of unpredictable things to computer modules. Start with the basics. Charge and test your battery and alternator, then go from there.

    P0008 Fault Code

That's just for labour. It's about a 15hr job, if no problems are found along the way. Budget about $2500 to start. Can be done with engine in. It takes about the same amount of time, but on the bench I'm certain that the seals go in squarely and it won't come back. It also saves my back some...

    P0008 Fault Code

Holden have a software update that widens the tolerance of the DTC, but this is only a temporary measure in most cases. The problem is the timing chain stretching, or the crankshaft tone wheel moving on the crank. Unfortunately there are no cheap fixes for this.

P2273 sensor signal is stuck on rich

It's possible that the tune has removed some of the built-in self-diagnostic aids that would help a mechanic find the fault. This engine should identify the misfiring cylinder within a few seconds and flash the MIL. The ECU will attempt to cut the injector of the misfiring cylinder to save the...

    Cv shaft

Here are my tips: 1. A good quality tool. Cheap hex tools are rubbish when doing heavy work. Spend $25 and buy a good quality single hex key socket to suit the size bolt you have, if you don't have one already. The last thing you want is a rounded off tool/bolt or broken knuckles. 2. Lubricate...

    2012 SV6

Very unlikely the ECU. Sounds like an electrical issue. Start right at the basics. Connect a good battery. Battery terminals, leads, connections - make sure they're all clean and tight. What does the good battery voltage do when you try to crank? Do the interior lights work? Does anything...

VE SS Tyre fitment advice pls 245's or 255's best pairing with 265 rears

Don't be so defensive. Separate your emotion from the conversation. This is a forum - expect differing opinions that don't match your own. To argue your point, offset absolutely has an effect on wheel bearing loading. Don't take my word for it, just google the words offset and wheel bearing...

    Brakes intermittently fading VT V6

The brake warning light illuminating is the key here. This indicates a fluid pressure difference between the two brake circuits - ie pressure loss somewhere. Either an external leak (easy to spot), or a failed rubber cup in the master cylinder. I can't think of anything in the ABS module that...

VE SS Tyre fitment advice pls 245's or 255's best pairing with 265 rears

I think we are agreeing on the topic. Just don't fall into the trap thinking that all 10 inch wheels are the same offset. You can buy them to suit many different setups. If old mate doesn't know this he might just buy any 10 inch wheels off ebay. Is this sarcasm?

VE SS Tyre fitment advice pls 245's or 255's best pairing with 265 rears

Any change from the engineered specs will have adverse effects on the vehicle in one way or another. I've just looked up standard offset on your car (from your profile, not knowing exact vehicle specs etc) and the standard wheels seem to be in the range of 38 to 55mm offset. You might be ok. My...

VE SS Tyre fitment advice pls 245's or 255's best pairing with 265 rears

Too much offset and your wheel bearings will fail prematurely. The load is no longer shared proportionally between both bearings. Not to mention the change in scrub radius will cause you to steer sideways (possibly into the oncoming traffic) should there be a tyre/mechanical failure.

You might be right with V8s - not sure with this. V6s waited until 2005/06.

    Scan tool

Before 2005/06 all commodores used a Holden-designed diagnostic protocol that wasn't compatible with any of the standard OBD systems that the rest of the world adopted. OBD1 is a loose term that just means an ECU that has self-diagnostic capability and uses common numbers to identify faults...
