My WH statesman air con compressor had a bearing failure. I took to an independent shop and the mechanic fixed the bearing without removing or decompressing the compressor. Cost was around $170.

Also check the main ground lead down near the motor mount. If it is loose, it will cause all kinds of problems.

I hope your alternator wiring is tucked behind the alternator. If it sits out front the wiring will rub on the alternator and cause momentary short out. Eventually there will be a fire.

The coolant temp. sensor is located under the alternator. This means you must remove the alternator to get it out. You will also need to drain the radiator, and disconnect the battery. You may also need a special socket to extract the sensor from the motor.

Check your local library for a repair manual and photocopy the diagrams. You may also have a bad fan switch, I had the same problem.
