Hey ladies,

My Gen 4 is coming up to the 150,000km service. I usually use Castrol Edge Sport 10W-60, but I'm wondering if I should be starting to use something different to extend engine life?

I was looking at the 0W-40, and the website recommends 5W-30.

I would like to stick with Castrol as I have never had any problems, but any suggestions would be appreciated.

Car is used only for everyday driving, no track work.

Cheers

Stick with the 10W-60. Holden only stipulate 5W-30 for fuel economy.

If you are not doing any track work there really is no point using the 10w-60 unless you drive the car quite hard on the street. Chuck some 10w-40 in it, you will get better fuel economy and a slight increase in power. There is absolutely NO need for a 0W oil either, go 5W as an absolute minimum in Australia's climate.

use 10w60, it will be the best for your car. 0w or 5w will be way too thin on startup, and as the engine gets older, the thicker oil you should use. also if you use too thin of an oil, you will hear major lifter ticking which will annoy the crap out of you. i know with my car, i ran a 5w30 in it, had an oil leak around the timing chain cover for the full 10,000km period, i recently changed to 15w50, my car runs like a dream and no more leaking.

Castrol only do a 5W-30 and 25W-50 in the Edge. There is 10W-30 in the Magnatec, but im a bit iffy about that stuff.
Have a look at Nulon, there doing heaps of different specs atm. 10W-30 or 40

Magnatec has nothing to do with magnetic force, it's simply the ability for the oil to remain on an object for a longer period if time. Would not have anything to do with the oil pressure switch bugging out
