haha. And how much did you pay for your HSV Senator?? Exactly.

What the hell is all this about a big v8 lasting longer then a (4 cylinder turbo)

Ahh.. I'm gonna keep watching this thread. I'll agree the commy kicks ass in terms of passenger comfort and functionality, but thats it.

i paid 18000 for it, low kms all options. its a VS. the v8 will last longer as there is less stress on the motor. big motors usually tend to last longer including v6s compared to a 4 cyl like a 1.6 or 1.8. its a known fact so dont be surprised.

i like both!!!!

i have always been a big commo fan and most like always will be

however the sr20det is a 2 litre double over head cam turbo, not a 1.8. have heard from a few guys now that specialise in full tilt performance builds that the sr20det is one of the most instructable motor that nissan builds, even over the rb series of motors.

they both get thumbs up as far as im concered.

however as previously stated

hmmm
a std 165kw VR Comm would get done by the Datsun
but the 180sx ?? it can't carry 5 passenger or tow the bike trailer
like the Commodore
mind you
a VR185i something would I reckon, give the datsun a run for its money
but
put a VZ SS up against the 180sx and the man with the turbo
wouldn't see which way the SS went
(the last mag test I saw for a VZ SS was a 13.9 quarter and a
top speed around 260) and with an EDIT the SS ran 12.7
which is quick :yeah:

the 180sx is though, not a bad sports car for the money
would prefer one of them to a 'rex'

cheers

My motorbike is worth like 1,500 bucks and can run 12 second quarters all day everyday dirt or road :) if you can compare a 180sx to a Commodore then.... :p. Seriously though a modern V8 Commdore would be a much faster around a proper sized race track than a 180sx, there are very very few (non supercar) faster point to point cars in the world

I own both a V8 VR BT1 and a 180sx sr20det.I brought the VR first and am regreting it as the 180sx is such a better car in all aspects.I always was a V8 fan until i went in a turbo and i had 2 buy 1 .why buy a commodore family car with crap looks , crap handling, and cheap ass interior and gas guzling V8 when u could have a 2 litre {thats faster than comm}turbo , awsome 4ws handling sleek sporty looks, sweet interior that wraps around u, alround better made car for around the same money.Ill always have a soft spot 4 V8s but do the mathss. Better car for the money. As u can see im a converted turbo fan. so any comments

The 180 SX is a sports car, do even bother comparin em cause there is no suitable criteria for it. Y are we talkin obout rice burners on here anywayz, stick to commodores or head over to fast fours and have a whinge there.

Agreed.

Don't come to a Commodore forum and go on about rice burners.

Cheers

Agreed, don't come to a Commodore forum where they don't like views that mock their beloved fuel guzzling 8's.

I love anything with a motor...absolutely anything...

We have a VS-II Berlina ecotec, and loaded the boot full of luggage (you know...to the stage where you nearly have to sit on the boot lid to shut it... :p ), and then me, the wife, and my two big sons and drove to Cairns...1100 km the first day on the road in perfect comfort, cruise control on and climate control air-con, getting anything up to a rediculous 8.5 lt/100km on those looooong flat stretches the other side of Bowen.

However, I've also taken a 180SX for a drive and by the Jesus, those things haul ass...very well-balanced feel to the whole car (apparently why the drift wankers love them) and was just so chuckable it wasn't funny. I've also taken a fairly standard R32 Skyline for a blast, and it too was a barrel of fun. Either one of these could happily have a home in my garage...but only if I was single because of lack of room in them...or maybe in a few years after the boys leave home and there's just me and the missus......
...hmmm.....don't give me ideas... :w00t:
