Pffft - If it's just using a bit of oil with no leaks or smoke I'd just top it up periodically. Cheapest solution of them all.

Yeah, does seem a lot - both of mine used to go from top of the stick to about 1/3 from the bottom of the scale between services. As others have said, try experimenting with the grade of oil a bit too.

In my ED Falcon, it loved Shell Helix

In my XR6 it chewed the helix very rapidly but loved Valvoline Durablend

Point is, every engine is different and so test and change oils to suit.

For my current car, Valvoline Synpower works well. Currently have Castrol Edge Titanium 10w60 and seems ok. Only done like 1000kms if that so can't judge it yet

But 5w30 I reckon is a bit light for a 115k km engine.

And why did you get rid of the GTR?

Can I ask? Roughly how much money it cost to get that power?

If you get weak at the knees, sit down lol

Try a 10w 40 oil see how that goes. Also as others have suggested try different brands. Im using nulon and so are a few of my mates, haven't heard or experience a bad thing with them.
