Can 22's be run on a pre-VE? - YES
Can it be done legally? - NO (Load rating + rolling diameter)
22's aren't even legal on a VE...let alone a pre-VE.
as for running 245/30R20's, what a lot of people seem to forget is that a 225/35R20 is a bigger tyre in diameter and in most cases is too large to be legal (not all). The bead area of the tyre still has to seat on the rim and with such little sidewall, the difference in diameter means that a 245/30R20 actually allows more clearance than a 225/35R20 in most cases.
