253 RED in 84' VK Sedan?

Hi all,

Just got home from looking at ANOTHER VK V8, but this one was a little different.

It is an original L31(308 BLACK) engine on the comp plate but it is fitted with a RED 253 & trimatic. Correct me if im wrong but I thought the VK only had the BLACK 308.

If so, can I register the car with the RED 253 or will it need a BLACK 308 put back in the thing for a QLD RWC?

Any info will be much appreciated.

As far as i know it has to be either blue or black i recently found out that apparently only the VK brockys had the black 5 litre otherwise the Vls had the black motor.

then someone has retro-fitted the motor, quite illegal unless the correct anti-pollution requirements have been fufilled.

and passed an engineer's certificate and inspection.

if its not fitted with the poloution gear then it wont pass.
also it wont pass with a 253 because the car never came out with one in it

But if it's allready registered or has been with that engine number and has all the obvious hoses in all the right places and the engine number is down in the books with that car it should be all sweet, sometimes things slip through

I recently bought a red 308 turbo block & t350 box off a mate who had it in a vh & with pollution gear in order & engineering cert, It passes rego not a prob But I live in Darwin NT! :thumbsup: By the way it's now in a 84 vk! SWEET AS

Cheers guys, I have already bought the car, replaced the engine with a 308 black & sold it. Was a nice car but I needed a more family style one.....
