I’ve used gloss (aluminium/s) expoxy enamel (Rust Guard) on the wheels to tidy them up.
I’m not entirely happy with the “Gloss” on them and was considering a 2K clear over.

I’ve read that it’s not a great combo though. The 2K will react with the epoxy enamel and bubble.

Maybe I just buff them a bit?

I had reconciled to peeling off the masking and getting them back on the car, but the more I walk past them, the more I’m not happy with that.

Thought maybe it’s a mislabelled batch too. I’ve used it before and it wasn’t as satin as this is.

I prefer the expoxy because it’s nice and hard and holds up well to punishment.

I believe you can use acrylic clear over it but I don't think 2k is gonna sit too well with it.

Thanks for that.
I might chance it with an acrylic clear from supercrap. They do a high grade one that isn’t 2K.

I found a can of that in the cabinet. Gave a light go over and nailed the finish.

two tiny fry ups where I hit it a bit hard in fiddly spots. I’m ok with it.

I really take my hat off to guys who renovate and repair wheels. It’s not just chuck some paint on and she’ll be right.

I wish I had a sand blaster. That would have got it how I’d have liked.

I’m happy with it though.

Thanks for the help :)

I had about 50 hours in my Simmons when it came to stripping, prepping, painting and clearing, because mine are a hotwire/mesh spoke style it was near impossible to get to the small spots inside the spokes.

Agreed, it's a very intricate job, even with all that work mine still wasn't a top quality job.

Just a tip with the duplicolor, if your going to buff it, give it 3-4 days to cure.
