Standard thermostat is a TT1-192 so 192° F or approx 89° C :)

Yeah. Just looked at two tridon booklets, one says tt1 190 and the other says tt1 195 so.....lol

My 304 (VT) runs a bit under 180 F (82 C) highway and a bit over stop starting.
That's with a cam, otr, worked heads, custom intake manifold and a standard cooling system.

Slapped in 180 thermostat today. Cruised at 187-190 and rose to 205-210 when stopped.raped it and didn't go over 212 Going to check the static timing and see what it is and organise a dyno tune in a week or two.

I dont think theres a problem here. The cruise temps are ok and when its getting a beating its not over heating. Enjoy it.

t/stats way too high....
a 180 t/stat is a must....high flow tstats don't allow the water/coolant to reject enough heat through the radiator as the flow/movement is way too quick
the bypass just eliminates cavitation.

even my sh!tty poocomp radiator works better than a ADC.

fyi...my 355 with twin 10" thermos, custom sheet alloy shroud, poocomp rad and a 180 tstat never sees above 200 when heavy on the loud pedal.....thermos switch on at 185 and no bypass

just a thought is there any chance u can put another thermo on the other side of the rad?

also a bonnet scoop may help to let some air out when doing burnouts too.

even wrapping the exhaust headers in heat tape.

also does it have an engine oil cooler on it as that could help cool it down too!

just a couple of other options for u to think about. besides buying a better radiator.
