Hey guys.

Im interested in putting a 5spd into my VC Commodore 4.2L. It currently has a 4spd manual, and was wondering if a 5spd would bolt straight on... or would there have to be any modifications needed to be done.

If this is possible, what gearbox would work? Has anyone done this? im sure they have. Have they had any problems?

any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jon

if the block is turbo patern then a V8 T5 box should bolt straight to it. i think from memory however that all the 253 V8 blocks were trimatic patern blocks in which case you could get either a bellhouse adaptor plate or a new bellhousing to suit the trimatic patern. i think mallwood automotive would be your best bet. you may also need to alter the driveshaft to suit
