5.7 Gen 3 Airflow meter problem?

Hello I have a 99 vt calais gen 3,
The other day when I started it the engine light was on and has stayed on! I took it to my local and they put the scan tool on it and came up with maf error, My question is has anyone had this issue before? mechanic said it was pretty rare to see an airflow meter error. I have not got around to putting a new one on yet just wanted to see if any one else has had this. We reset the fault code and as soon as it starts up again it brings the code straight back on. From just reading over this forums - I see MAF Meter's being a pain in the ass quite often. Now please, for the love of god don't take my word for it. I know literally nothing. haha. Someone will surely help you soon. haha.

Rare as it may be, unfortunately nothing is infallible. Beg/borrow/steal a MAF to do a quick test and see if that cures the problem.
