6 speed tremec woes

Hi all.I have a vtss with the tremec 6 speed.The gear shift has always been stiff.But now occasionally it won't go into gear.I had a mechanic look at it and he said it could be the shift rod or bearing in the box.Its got plenty of oil dex 111.THe clutch works fine.If it has to come out can anyone recommend a good gearbox repairer in melbourne that won't take me to the cleaners(the ex wife already did that job).I know its not going to be a cheap fix.Any help would be greatly appreciated cheers.

have you put new fluid in it yet
try some transmax Z and see how that goes

Hi GMAD no I haven't.I checked the fluid level to make sure it had dextron 111.It did and was full.The oil was still nice and pink.cheers.
