hi my abs light on the dash has been showing up now for about 5 weeks now and hasn't turned off is this a fault or is there something wrong with my abs

Check the fuses, if they are all ok I would take it to a professional. If you hit the brakes hard, your abs wont work, and you will go sliding, which may be the difference between stopping in time and writing off your car. Just something to be aware of. Price of repair - ? Depending on whats faulty. ABS module is in the way of a couple of hundred dollars if thats the prob

The connector under the ABS unit can get water in it if the engine has been steam or pressure cleaned. You can remove the connector to check for corrosion. Have you tried disconnecting the battery for 5 mins - this can clear some faults.
