Hey Everyone, My ecotec has 10 millimeters of play when gently pressing down on the accelerator cable. Is this too much?

I couldn't find any info on this or on any other thread. I have been told it is but they were referring to a completely different car.

Thanks

That should be fine. Most people like it that loose I personally like mine much tighter. But if you go too tight the throttle can stick open.

It takes a lot of pedal before the car moves away from a stand still so probably will adjust it if i can.

is it adjustable through the two nuts on the cable bracket?

Thanks for the reply

Holden Service manual specs are 10-15mm of slack. If you tighten it you'll probably find that the idle revs will increase. Been there, done that.

Definitely need a little slack in the throttle cable but it's something you can experiment with but as mentioned already, make it to tight and the throttle may stick open.

Can also add an extra spring to the throttle too if you want to go real tight.

I adjust the cable so there is a little bit of slack....I don't use a tape measure or ruler....As long as there is a bit of slack, there is no chance of the throttle being open slightly....

as long as it gets to full throttle when the pedal reaches its stopper its all good, u dont want pedal to put extra stress on the cable if it can go further then required
