fuel $300 = 3000km?
accom 120
food 50
spare belt 30
sparks 20
coolant 25
oil 25
jerry cans 20

does RAA help me once i get to WA?

any thing wrong with budget anything i should add or not need

Yeah all the different states road services look after one another. So no matter where you are, you call the RAA's call center and they dispatch the closest one to you....
you may need a bit more $$$ for fuel as the price can get silly in some remote places...its a lot better than it use to be...work on a full tank getting you between 600 and 800k's

Double the fuel, remember fuel is over $2 a litre out there. May 2012 it was $2.16 a litre at Balladonia for 98, $2.03 for 91

If that's your budget, you might as well fly imo.

My stepdad used to drive Wollongong to Perth and back sometimes twice a month in my old VS and never had any trouble.

as everyone has suggested, be prepared.

RAC should cover you in WA if you get roadside assist through whatever it is that you have over there.

Have you costed the bus trip? its the worst way to travel btw, and isnt as cheap as it use to be...road trips get expensive due to accommodation,we spent nearly 3X on motels ect than fuel and sundries on our last trip to sydney.As for flying my missus went to perth a few mths ago for 4 days, flight tickets and car hire came to nearly 1K...sleep in the car, pack food and drinks or buy from supermarkets rather than roadhouses, you will beat the cost of every other way of traveling bar walking...unless something go's bang and think of the freedom and adventure
