Just bought a VY 2 wagon.the aerial mast wont come up.however it does on occasions but goes straight back down.any suggestions?

just replace your mast and rope.Easy and cheap

can you hear it whiring like it wants to go up? could be a wiring problem. get someone to turn it on and have a listen.

I did that and there was no electric motor noise.

Sounds like it could either be a blown motor for the arial, a fuse or a wiring fault. As you said it sometimes works, id be checking the easy stuff first. Is the HU factory or an aftermarket conversion? If its aftermarket then pull it out and make sure all wiring is neat and tidy. On most aftermarket HU the arial wire is either blue with white trace or just blue. See if this i connected properly

Its a gmh aerial.i took it out and pulled the mast up and disconnected the power but left the aerial lead connected.i will replace it when it gets snapped.

na i was talking about your stereo. is it after market?

could be a number of things then. if the stereo has been out it may not be sitting in properly. could also be the relay or a fuse.

Won't be the fuse if it goes up sometimes,the fuse is either blown or it's not,and it can't fix itself.
