Small update, just purchased some 3.9's for the car.
Car is going in on Monday so the boys can do some measurements for a single turbo setup, so I have started buying some parts, got two sets of standard manifolds and the flanges to suit.

We're going for driveability/practicality over outright power. Looking at a GT3540R with a 1.06 ex.

Yeah the twin 2.5" should be enough.

Yeah I wanted something turbo, but I love my car........so only option was to turbo the SS

See how you go, MYT05 put a cam and headed LS1 in his VP on sc forums, twin 2.5" strangled it. Depending on how much power you're chasing I suppose.

for a 5L, the twin 2.5 should be enough. a mild 304 only needs twin 2.25 while a stroker or something really worked needs the twin 2.5
