Air filter problem

Obviously a case of 'restricted air flow'. Engines need fuel and air. No air and the engine WON'T run. Good luck.

just get a stocko one and replace at each service, you're overthinking it imo.

Sounds a bit iffy for sure. Looks kinda shiny, does it have some kind of sprayed on coating that maybe went on a bit thick?

It could be whatever has been sprayed on it as the replacement has better airflow and is not as "shiny".

Installed the replacement and it fired up and is running fine. Maybe just a manufacturing fault. Supplier is going to test it & get back to me.
