VZ Berlina Wagon
Hi all,
I was after some info if anyone can help...
I have recently bought a VZ Berlina Wagon which will be towing a 1600Kg Tandem Trailer.
Reading the owners manual it recommends putting Air Shocks on the rear if towing.
Has anyone had this done?? Do the air lines or shockers leak?
Any info would be much apreciated.:)

VX S2 Berlina Wagon with Phreddied bits.
How often will you be towing?

Air shockers have a valve on the side of the shocks, that you pump up with air for heavy loads, once you have finished towing you let the air out(Valve can also be fitted within vechile by running air lines).

or put some heavy duty springs in.

or you could put some polyair springs in.

IMO you would be better off putting some heavy duty rear springs in , if you are going to be towing often and if you aren't i'd go for the air shocks.

Hi Wagon Man,
Thanks for the reply and info.
In answer to your question it's to tow a ski boat from Melbourne up to Echuca probably 10 or so times over summer otherwise the odd occaision when you need a trailer etc. I guess from what you said the air shocks will probably be the best option.
It's seems straight forward enough to up the pressure when towing, just do it at the same time as upping the tyre pressure.
Is there an aftermarket system that is self sufficient?

Thanks again:thumbsup:

Hi hkmonaro68,

I bought the car 'Used' and the dealer (Holden) I got it from was a bit dodgy I now think. I got the Tow Bar (2100kgs) as part of the deal. The bar is a realy good quality Hamon Reese bar but they didn't do any of the other mods. Hence why I'm now chasing it up. A couple of Mechanic friends have said to just get heavyer duty shocks and springs rather than the air shocks.
If you've had them done it would be great to know what you think?
Is the Tail Shaft Shield you mentioned the heat shielding mentioned in the owners manual.
Any advice would be appreciated!
