What Commodores have the threaded air temp sensor that sits in the air box. And does it matter if say I get one of an earlier commodore and put in a vs

The hole in the Mace CAI should accommodate the stock sensor in you current air box, so you can just swap it over.

Not all air temp sensors are the same, they run on different voltages and have different out ranges.
You'd have to get your hands on a manufacturers catalogue and look through all the specs for all the different ones to find a match.

The one on my VS (don`t know what you call it) has a clip type ring to that holds it in no thread on it at all.

As the other have said, just change over current AIT sensor from the factory air box to the MACE CAI. It's a bit fiddly but it can be done. I find it's easiest to use a small flat blade screw driver to lift the little tabs on the retaining clip to get it out of the original air box.

That`s what I did too.

I know the mace box has the hole for the stock air sensor but was just asking to see if the threaded sensor can be used instead as the retainer clip is a once off use clip. I've had to break mine off the stock box so sensor is taped on for now. But might have to look at a parts catalogue to see what can suit or just get a new retainer clip from Holden.
