Just watched it then very good.....hopefully they dont have any problems with it but was just talking to garth and seems the alloys motors are prone to cracking....could be very embarrassing if they have to do a mass recall :(

ive been chatting to the guy's in the states, on a american forum who run the 60 degree v6, well, they have told me some very interesting stuff, the motor is strong, the maker's of the v6 in the states, (they use a 3.4l version) strenthend their heads in the making of the alloy by putting a impurity into the head, this stops the stress point for heat being to high, hence preventing cracking as easily, aloy for example has a melting point of say 89deg c, if your car goes to 90 deg c, it will crack, go figure, hopefullyholden would have thought of this before they did it, and it's all taken care off, im sure they wont have a repeat of the gen3 issue with oil usage, may have learnt their lesson

cheers
garth

No the Alloytec and the Alloytec 190 is a new V6 Engine that is being introduced into the Commodore/Statesmen Range in the VZ line....the new V8 that they are introducing in the VE will be the 6ish Litre GenIV V8 from the US

I'm sure this is part of the reason why Holden are putting it in their new commodore last, yet making it for overseas cars first, just to see if ther are any wrinkles to iron out, Unlike the yanks with their problem's (liek the smoking GEN III) we try to iron ours out asap.
