Hey fellas,

I am in the process of putting together a new sound system build for the ute.

I am buying...

($133) Pioneer TSW311D4 1400W 12inch Champion Series Single 4 ohm Car Subwoofer - TSW311D4

and

($199) Polk Audio db6501 6.5inch Component System with 6.75inch Cone - db6501

Obviously i want an amp to power it, and while i have basic knowledge on what to look for, i'd like someone with real knowledge to help me out.

I was looking at a specific amp, as from what i can tell it is quite good quality, low heat and will run both the speakers and sub to their full RMS so i can get everything i can out of them without overloading.

Would this be a good choice?
($259) Pioneer GM-D8604 4 Channel 1200W Class FD Car Amp - GMD8604

If not, can you educate why and send me some advice?

Cheers,

Its a good amp to drive the components, however not ideal for the sub.

That sub has dual 4 Ohm VC's, so it can only be wired in parallel (2 Ohm) or Series (8 Ohm). The amp will only support 4 Ohm in bridged mode so its not ideal.

Either get a Dual 2 Ohm/ Single 4 Ohm VC sub, or an amp that will support 2 Ohm in bridged mode.

Hey bro, thanks for the reply.

I managed to get a pretty nice AMP for nothing (yes, free).
This is it, which would also not be ideal for the sub above.
Cobalt CB1500.5 - Orion Car Audio

I found these three subs
($448) JL Audio 12W3V32 12inch Subwoofer - 12W3V32

or

($229) JL Audio 12W0V34 Subwoofer - 12W0V34

or

http://www.soundmaster.com.au/Kicker-CWRT122-CompRT-Shallow-12inch-Subwoofer/CWRT122/

Which would you suggest to be run by the 5th ch of this amp?
I am by not means after a competition system, just nice and able to be loud.

Cheers,

Neither of those subs will run particularly well of that amp. Ideally you want a dual voice coil 4ohm with a rated power of around 300 WRMS

Okay no worries, i've gone back to the drawing board in terms of the system layout, once it is all set up, i will post pictures with specs.

Thanks again
