there was a local taxi driver (owner driver) that had a fairmont taxi that was serviced every 5000kms and when it hit 800,000 the local ford dealer that serviced it gave him a new one. he had it from new. they displayed it in the southward car museum for while with the service history.
I owned Falcon taxis in the '70s and we ran them day and night on gas and sold them off for about $1000.00 after 3 to 4 years with 6 to 800,000 Ks on them.
I changed the oil and filter myself every couple of months.....Used Mobil, and did many other simple jobs on them when needed. Major things went to local mechanic. They still ran quite well.
We had a guy come into our dealership with VY SS sedan with 890,000kms on it.The guy was a heavy load pilot. He serviced the car every 10k & the only problems were seat base was replaced twice(guy was 110kg)
I looked at the history of the car & it all checked out.He kept the car & traded it in on new VE SS when it hit 900,000km.Cant wait to see what he racks up on the VE.He said he has had Fords & Toyotas but nothing competes with Commodores for reliability & comfort. So to all you doubters out there service regularly & they will go forever..........lol
