Is it ok to run semi synthetic oil in a L77 engine , i do oil changes every 5000klm or below just seems a waste of money buying full synthetic especial the price of it .

It is fine...but half the time synth oils are on special...

I never pay more than 40 bucks for synth and always stock up when cheap..
I.e. bough Penrite HPR5 last time @$35 for 5L.

Not that expensive....

That is just my preference.

In saying that...all semi synth oils these days will be more than okay if you are doing 5000km services...

I would agree with Ron.
After my VE was out of warranty I've changed my own oil and filter etc. etc. at about 5000kms or less, and have used Magnatec 5-30 and now Nulon 5-30.
Both semi synthetic oils that seem to be doing the job for me and the engine. Engine is quiet and smooth.
I always keep an eye open for the specials. I was lucky enough to pick up 5 litre bottles of Nulon 5-30 last year at $20.00 per bottle.
