hi all...

my vt power steering pump has a leak in it ( surprise surprise ).
i havnt got time to change it at the moment or the funds to buy a new one, but was told you can buy an addative that you add to the oil to stop it from leaking. does anyone know of this or if it works???
Also are these pumps easy to take off and possibly replace the seal myself???

thanks in advance.
:bang:

there are a few companies with power steering "snake oil" out there, but in all reality, if a leak is bad enough, it aint stopping without being rebuilt. have a look in parts peddler magazine and there is a holdun surplus distributor in there selling brand new pumps for $165.

Dont waste your money on a new pump.
Just go and buy a new seal kit for it! I think rat has em for like 6 bucks. . .
95% of the time its just the seals have got brittle in them, causing the leaks.
The internals r usually fine.

Not a big job aslong as u have access to a bench vice.

wouldn't hurt to have one in rotation at the rate they 'wear' out....sounds silly, but true!
