Seems the battery carked it and shut me down. Entirely! Does anyone know why or will a new battery be all I require?

Age of battery?
New one should get you going and keep you going if alt. is working okay.
Suggest don't be cheep. Buy a decent battery as it's cold down there.

Can't beat Century batteries. Don't be cheap. You get what u pay for. I have always bought Century batteries & they have always stood the test of time.

I have recently had an ENIRGI 3000 battery put in the VE.
Came with a 3 year written full replacement warranty.
Look them up. Very interesting.

VX SS (Original owner).
I currently have a Century in my VX SS, been in for 3 years but I have my doubts about it, has one of those magic eyes which shows the state of one cell, it has on several occasions indicated it needed water and a recharge which I did, but not overly confident in it.

The battery prior to the Century was an Exide it was 7 years old when I changed it and was still working ok, just changed it for peace of mind.
So not sure what I might go for next time. Might try the Exide again. Bit of a lucky dip I think.

I hear decent reports about Supercharge. I have a Supercharge dual purpose (crank and deep cycle) and I have had it for 4 or 5 years and it still holds charge. I'm thinking about dropping in the ute if the current one fails, providing the configuration works. Century batteries are cheap in Adelaide fair bit cheaper than Supercharge. I have a had a couple of them fail so tend to stay away from them now. I wasn't overly impressed with my Exide, it only lasted two years. Exide don't hold up well to excessive vibration.
