Seems the battery carked it and shut me down. Entirely! Does anyone know why or will a new battery be all I require?
need a lot more information to answer that question what is alternator charging at how old was battery does it start if you jump start it, does it keep running
Age of battery? New one should get you going and keep you going if alt. is working okay. Suggest don't be cheep. Buy a decent battery as it's cold down there.
Can't beat Century batteries. Don't be cheap. You get what u pay for. I have always bought Century batteries & they have always stood the test of time.
i buy delco, century seem to have dropped in quality last year or so still definitely one of the better batteries though
I have recently had an ENIRGI 3000 battery put in the VE. Came with a 3 year written full replacement warranty. Look them up. Very interesting.
I currently have a Century in my VX SS, been in for 3 years but I have my doubts about it, has one of those magic eyes which shows the state of one cell, it has on several occasions indicated it needed water and a recharge which I did, but not overly confident in it. The battery prior to the Century was an Exide it was 7 years old when I changed it and was still working ok, just changed it for peace of mind. So not sure what I might go for next time. Might try the Exide again. Bit of a lucky dip I think.
I hear decent reports about Supercharge. I have a Supercharge dual purpose (crank and deep cycle) and I have had it for 4 or 5 years and it still holds charge. I'm thinking about dropping in the ute if the current one fails, providing the configuration works. Century batteries are cheap in Adelaide fair bit cheaper than Supercharge. I have a had a couple of them fail so tend to stay away from them now. I wasn't overly impressed with my Exide, it only lasted two years. Exide don't hold up well to excessive vibration.
I think the little window is there for wank factor only. I've had them show green and the battery has been cactus. Only way I have found to properly test is load test.
I bought a Century Battery just over 12 months ago...(Still have the receipt)...Wasn't cheaper than a supercharge battery at the time, even getting the Century battery on sale through supercheap...Century batteries come with a 2 year warranty
brought a century ultra hi performance from supercheap when it was on special just over a month ago for the vz comes with a 3 years warranty also got the same in the ute and thats around 5 years old now and still going strong the new ultra one is sealed where the old ultra one needs water
there is an auto electrical place in Adelaide who sell them really cheap. I have bought three batteries off them. I would post the name but i can not remember who they are called. But i found them on Google. They don't make much on each battery he said but they sell a lot of them.
http://www.batterydiscounters.com.au/ These blokes are by far the cheapest in Adelaide. It is Peter and Rick. Although they are only cheap on Century I found.
Hi guys! Update is that the battery and the CAS were the problem. All fixed so thanks for the comments and help! Cheers!
