the official line is that it can't be done. you need to buy a new key head (lots of $$$) and then have it programmed (more $$$) on the other hand i have heard people say that if you can pry the head apart without damaging it you can replace the battery. however it is a " do at your own risk" proposition (once my local wrecker had one apart, not sure if it ever worked again however)

wreckers sell the keyheads a lot cheaper than that but they still need to be programmed at holden. My new one cost 45 all up.

What you do is --- using a hammer, place the key head on a solid bench tap firmly on the edge of the key head working your way around the edge [small but fast taps] you will find that the head will eventually separate. Be extra carefull not to damage the components if you use a knife to finish the separation. You are then able to get to the battery. The only thing is that the battery is soldered in.

I got a new key cut and head.
My locksmith just put the new key in turned it till lights came on the dash (didn`t try to start car) waited for 30seconds started car head is programmed.
Didn`t go to holden.
