I had a Diablo Red VR GTS and Diablo was darker red than Sting Red and in the late '90's, Zymol wax was the best I tried that really worked on that colour. With Sting Red, my eyes saw a better finish and depth with the cheap Meguiar's carnauba wax over any ceramic's I've seen on that colour.
Convinced that a wax still works best on Sting Red, I tracked down some Zymol albeit as dear as poison and did my Redline Ute with that. Zymol is hard work to buff off, but the depth and richness I ended up with was brilliant!
It's hard to see much in photos, but here's a photo when I did the Zymol wax under LED lights.
It looks great, I like that deep walk-in look that only a high quality wax gives.
An old detailer fellow once taught me how to use hard waxes by putting a piece of wax about the size of a 20 cent piece in the palm of your hand and let the warmth from your hand soften it, then use your finger tips to massage it onto the polished surface.
A bit the size of a 20 cent piece will easily do an area about half the size of a bonnet then keep repeating the same until you completely cover the painted area.
Buff off with a plush microfibre towel and let it stand for 24 hours then apply another layer.
The finish job in my photo has three layers as that is all Dodo Juice recommends with Supernatural before you start to lose the extra protection layering offers.
It a nice feeling when all you use is your finger tips as the applicator.
Layering liquid waxes offers no benefits at all, nor do they offer much protection.
