I've never gone back to Hamiltons after they failed (forgot) to replace the oil into engine after service. Fortunately I was in the habit of pulling the dip stick before driving off. They replaced the oil and didn't even apologise.

Good habit Benboy. Agreed, I would never go there again.

Reminds me of a story my father in-law told me.

A female friend of his had her car in at a specialist radiator place in Mildura (Vic). She returned at the end of the day to pick it up. All fixed she was told so she paid and left. She got a few kilometres and there was steam coming out from under the bonnet. THERE WAS NO RADIATOR FITTED IN THE CAR!!! The car was towed back and repaired and appeared okay but the radiator place would not agree if she had engine issue in the future to assist her financially!

I took my SSV to Rosebery for a service because I had never used a dealer before only done my own, my car (a 2007!) was the newest car I had owned and with a full service history I wanted to maintain and as I get older my time becomes more valuable and I know I can do a car service so I have nothing to prove.

Long story short, I might go back but I will be giving specific instructions first:

When doing the tracking ensure that a) the steering wheel is corrected to straight and b) the front wheels aren't adjusted to wear the inside shoulders clean off. No I do not need new wipers for $120. A clutch fluid flush should be done via the bleed nipple and done fully not suck out the reservoir and replace. I will be marking the bleed valves on the brakes to ensure they actually do them as requested.

Other than that it did save me doing it. But then I just did a filter and oil change myself and it took 30minutes including clean up so ....not sure I will go back. Have not decided! I just filled out the service book and chucked in the receipts. To be honest if I saw that buying a car it would be good enough for me.

oh and lastly ...DO NOT WASH MY CAR WITH A STONE ENCRUSTED SPONGE! edit: In fact just don't wash my car.

The dealership in Corowa, NSW (Pigdons) is great, so much so that I will drive the 60km one way to get my car serviced there. Won't take my car to the local dealership near me (won't mention name but not hard to figure it out). I prefer to drive that distance to get what I believe is great service and I am not expected to drop the car off and leave it there all day and they don't charge like a wounded bull like the 'local' one does. Rude and arrogant comes to mind with the local one and they also won't let you talk to a mechanic face to face like Pigdons in Corowa do.
I could go on but as All5litres said about a dealership hes been too, I wouldn't take a wheelbarrow to the local one.

Good to hear mate, Peter Page Holden could learn a bit from them....I wouldn't take a wheelbarrow there.

Really? What did they do? I've bought two cars from them (Lancer and my LPG Omega), and they've taken great care of me. This includes several grand in work to the engine of my Omega after I bought it to fix a problem (mind you, as a mechanic from the US and having run service/car intake for a dealership, I know how to do a properly thorough intake inspection that would have found the problem instead of the quick ones they do).
