I recently put a replacement ryco oil filter on my VL 6cyl and the filter wouldnt tighten enough to properly compress the rubber ring so eventually it started leaking the oil out.
it was chinese, ryco z145A
luckily I managed to get home
Ive had problems with australian made ryco filters, with non return valves not working, causing dry starts
defective ryco oil filters are often mentioned, i will avoid all of them now

Sounds like it wasn't fitted properly to me, I've used Ryco in the past and never had an issue.

So your saying we should all stop using ryco filters because you didn't know how to fit it properly?

I've used Ryco for 5 years now and have never had a problem. And I'm sure alot of people here have never had problems either.

I had an issue a few years back with same filter. New one was leaking from the seam where body
Meets the top plate.(Press fitted)Which in turn dumped nearly all my hpr30 on mums grass. Had a dead patch for about 2 years lol.

Took it back to place of purchase to have it replaced as ot was a defective part.
My oil was also replaced :)
Fella said it had happened before to another
Bloke.. But I still use ryco z145a. It's on the car now ha

It's all I use. Never had a problem. But I have had a problem with the fuel filters. Got 2 dodgy ones that both leaked out of the pressed seal. 2 times in a row :/
