How did you end up getting the coil out? I am having similar dramas and can't even see the bloody coil, let alone take it out.

What a few have done is buy a differnt style coil boshe replacement and mount it somwhere convenient in the bay. If you plan to go this route, i would just cut the wires on the old coil and move/extend them to wherever you want the new one to be and leave the old redundant one where it is.
