I noticed this today.
When decelerating the tacho needle falls then bounces at approx 1000 - 1250 rpm. This seems to be common when driven over 80kph.

When slowing down to a stop from 60kph, i can almost feel the car surging/stopping, but it's only 250rpm & i might be imagining it.

Any ideas?

My vp did this. Taking my foot off the accelerator completely at 110 km/h the tacho needle would bounce as you described. I think it's normal.

My VY V6 Auto used to do that when rolling down a hill in drive. Never seemed to be a problem.

sounds like a loose wire somewhere to me, if only the tacho.

The surging is what I'd be concerned about.

My old vy used to frequently have a bouncing tach needle...
Narrowed it down to the road being slippery...
