Hey all,

Got my old HJ ute back in Hawkes Bay NZ, close to Port of Napier and I'd like to ship it over to Melbourne in a 20ft container. I have a few parts that will be going with it. No personal stuff. Can't do roll on roll off.

I see I can get any removals type company to do it but they charge a fortune.

The way I see it can't I just engage a freight forwarder and do the rest of the work myself?

Just wondering if anyone is knowledgeable on this subject if they can give me a bit of a personalised education on what's required to undertake this task yourself?

I have an Australian import permit.

Thanks all.

There are a couple of companies that specialize in vehicle shipping (mainly to NZ from the US) but they may be able to help. Probably a lot of paper work involved and rules about cleanliness etc that must be followed.

Probably the worst time ATM to ship anything anywhere cost wise.
