brake pad coming out while driving

I have a vs ute with live axle and the left hand rear brake keeps loosing the outside brake pad its like the pad guides arnt moving with the pad.

That doesn't sound good at all. You may have a seized slide. Does the inside pad wear out quicker on that caliper?

i dunno. they are pretty new i thought it could be the slide but i dont know wat to do to it.

how exactly is the pad "coming out"? have the correct pads been used? werre they fitted correctly? have the rotors been machined?

nah cant take a photo its is ****ing down outside. i had a look at a caliper i had lying around and the slide moved really freely and on the 1 in car it is hard to move

so either swap that good caliper or reco the one thats on there, either way your gonna have to remove it to do it properly. best bet is to overhaul the spare and then fit. i do suggest that you do both sides however, that way you maintain a better brake balance, although your current balance is crap anyways

To avoid having to bleed the brakes, just pull the slide off, clean it up and regrease it. Otherwise, do a complete overhaul, replace the seal and the boot as well and bleed the brakes.

Just gets some grease on the slides. The calipers are held on by 2 bolts - That's all.

The caliper is just 2 main parts - and the slider part is the only place to put any grease.

You will not even need to bleed the brakes if you leave the brake hose connected.
