Let's think cheap and eliminate the globes first before we splash the cash.

Remove the passenger brake light globe (it's probably also the parking light globe as well, i.e. it has 2 filaments).

Does the problem go away or are the driver's side brake light and back window brake light globe still on?

If the problem didn't go away put that globe back.

Remove the driver's side brake light globe. Did the problem go away?

(I have seen some IDIOT put a single filament indicator globe in the spot where the dual filament brake/parker bulb was to go. It shorted the brake light line to the parker light line. I'm just trying to eliminate one of the globes feeding 12 volts back onto the brake light 12V line.)

oh dear, that does sound like bcm
have you checked your trailer wiring connector for shorts
how handy are you, you may need to fit an additional brake switch, just to operate lights, will need to keep brake pedal sensor for other features

repco can send your bcm to be repaired, but turn around time is a couple of weeks
or get an auto elec to cut the output wire from bcm to brake lights
fit a normally closed switch, held open to brake pedal
using a relay to switch negative and output to previously removed wire from bcm
