Buggered Gearbox!

Im am now looking for a new gearbox for my VS cos the one in it decided to give up yesterday :cry: :cry:
Does anyone one know of places that sell decent auto boxes (preferably in the Townsville/Cairns region? (btw im looking for a VS v6 gearbox)
I have a manual box lined up for it, but thats not gonna be ready for another few months so i am just gonna chuck another auto in for now so i can have a car again! Appreciate any help

Someones wrecking a VR in the Townsville Bulletin (think it will fit) - give them a ring (WED or Sat papers)
Otherwise check the FOR SALE boards at Woolies Willows or other shopping centres. Ask around - maybe leave a "wanted" ad at car washes etc - give your mobile phone number. Wreckers want $600 plus but I've seen complete cars for less.

See Eric's Auto in Townsville for a new one or even a rebuild they done my gear box and done a great job, very happy with them.

Well a rebuild is going to cost around $1800, wreakers are no better, $600 plus fitting (around $200-$300). Take it to a specialist and see what they can do to make it run a little more.

If you can also pick up a copy of the cairns post exchange, not too sure if its available in tsv but im guessing you can get a copy sent down and it's only $1. It usually has a good section on car parts.

why not? i put a vn manual gear box in my vs so cant see why a vr auto cant go in a vs, their the same as far as im concerend. only difference between vn manual was 6 bolt fly wheel, so i had to get a 8, but vr to vs are like identical
