2002 VX Commodore s2
I have a 2002 model VX commodore.

The problem I am having is that I can't play burned cd's in the car's cd player. The cd player is holden standard.

My ex who is American, burned music off his iTunes on his laptop that he brought over from the States. He used the DYNEX brand of blank cds.....every cd he made me works!

I can't get DYNEX brand in Australia. Surely there must be a way in which I can play MY burned cds in my car.

I also use iTunes on my computer and burn cds the exact same way my ex does, but it still won't work.

I've tried many brands of cds including, Imitation, Verbatim, Sony, TDK. I don't know what to do!!

My best friend has the same type of car, but my cd's don't work in her car either....so it's not the cd player. But the american made cd's DO work.

HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS KIND OF PROBLEM????

I only use iTunes to burn my cd's and they work on my home cd players.

I have a samsung DVD multi-player/CD RW combo.

PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks!!

Terra, theres two possibilities here

1, the songs have been burnt as MP3, this records them as a file and not an audio signal. The CD Player in the Commodore is only capable of audio signals, it can't read a file like Computer, DVD Player or many newer CD Players, there is an easy way to check. How many songs are on the cd? More then 20-25? If so, it's an MP3 CD and it simply wont play. You will need to put the songs onto the hard drive of your pc and burn them again as a .wav file only. This will make it use many CDs instead of just one. Thats the bonus of MP3s..you can fit HEAPS of songs instead of just 80minutes worth.

2, the CDs have been burnt at a high speed and the CD Player in the Commodore doesn't have a strong enough laser in it to read such a weak signal that happens when you burn CDs at a high speed.

Let us know which one it is or if it's neither.

You also migth like to check that the disc's are closed. One option when making any type of disc music/data/porn is to allow more info to be written on the disc "multisession" I would make sure that multisession is deselected.

Mike is right, thats a third possibility.

Mike, is there a way that another program other then the one used to create program can close the session off?

No idea, I've always used nero. I assume that any program can close the disc just burn nothin on as you second session and close it then.
Personally I never bother with multi session, given the price of CD's I just close them each time.
I only use burtn cd's in my player as I am always suspicious of slot loading machines. They always work but I have a JVC mp3 player that will work with CD-R's anyway.

Another tip, burn at one less than the maximum speed, that will usually be enough to keep everything happy.

Thankyou!

THANKS GUYS!!!!

I have FINALLY got it to work!
I slowed the burning speed down to 20X instead of maximum, and changed the music files in iTunes to WAV format, they were previously in AAC format (whatever that is!). Mind you, that alone did not help.

I also tried burning onto a CD-R instead of CD-RW.

So with in all 3 in combination, they worked! I was so happy, I was running up and down the driveway with joy!

Thanks again!!

AAC

Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) was developed by Dolby Laboratories, Fraunhofer, AT&T, Sony and Nokia to provide high-quality audio that compresses more efficiently than earlier formats. Licensing is handled by Via Licensing Corporation, an independent subsidiary of Dolby Laboratories, who also license Meridian Lossless Packing, the compression scheme used for the high-resolution content of most DVD-Audio titles. It is the only approved lossy format and portable players will default to this area of the disc for a number of reasons; it can be replayed with considerably less processing power than the high-resolution content (a welcome side-effect being increased battery life) and the disc only needs to spin at low speeds given that the data throughput required is just a fraction of that demanded by MLP or PCM.
