Hey guys,

Im looking at just getting a CAI with a tune. What have people installed and comments?

Im tossing up between Ramjet from GM or a VCM unit.

Cheers

VCM is personally what I got when I had my tune done and am incredibly happy with it, can't answer from a technical POV however or comment on the Ramjet.

Some say the plastic ones, VCM for instance expand when hot and may have sealing issues.
I can confirm v2 of VCM's CAI seals as tight as a fish's ass (when used with some rubber grease). I always wipe inside the intake behind the filter to check for leaks when cleaning and it's always dust free and clean as a whistle. The plastic definitely heats up though.
However I still struggle to forgive VCM for their atrocious attempt at a CAI with the first version that had hundreds of engines around AUS (including mine) eating dirt, rocks, bugs etc.
Surely there wouldn't be any old ones still lingering out their, but best to check you are getting the current generation if you do decide on VCM, especially if it's not purchased new or it's not from a well known reputable seller.

Its your choice....

They all do basically the same thing, a straighter shot of cooler intake air to the throttle body, whilst flowing a lot better than the factory system.

I use a GMM Ramjet in my Maloo.

I would go VCM with infills and facia. Looks neat, sounds and works well

Mine pinged on heavy throttle after fitment, for a day, until I got a tune

Now it's great

Its honestly about what you like the look of.

Performance wise, theres a bees dick of difference. Youll never notice it.

The first run of the VCM OTR's for the VE had sealing issues, however, theyre fine now. You can buy a wide array of panels to make it look nice and neat, almost factory looking.

I personally also like the DUS OTRs but not sure if they do one for the VF yet.

*waiting for someone to mention Walkinshaw so I can have a good laugh*

I just enjoy laughing people who make it sound like their Walkinshaw stickered item is better than everything else. I dont mind Walkinshaw as a company, theyve made a killing selling Ice to Eskimos.

You get it all the time, I deal with it every day, people saying that the Walkinshaw Exhaust and OTR is better than the VCM and Defillipo counterparts, then you just back away slowly from the person who took the sales pitch harder than a brothel employee takes...

My post was simply a tongue in cheek stab, waiting for someone to mention a Walkinshaw OTR ha.
