hey guys, lost my brothers key to his hyundai. he has one that is plain metal and opens doors and goes in the igntion but it doesnt start because the immobiliser is on the black section of the key that i lost.
hyundai want about $220 to cut one and programme it and we have to take the car there, and its unregistered and obviously undriveable NOW!

any ideas of alternatives? tech tool etc?? i did see a shopping plaza key cutter guy that advertises to cut them but the programming?? please help.

They should be able to disassemble the barrel, read the key code and the replicate it. I'm sure I've had it done before with customers cars

brother priced one to come out, 385-500. might have to trailer the car to the dealership. 220-270 this will cost for a freakin key! that'll learn me to leave it in my pocket of old pants then the mrs throws them out. doh!

No ****!
They're not the only dealership where you live.
If you physically cant drive the car to them, there has to be a way for them to help you out isn't there, apart from diving the car to them?

i priced a key for 2001 accent earlier this year. it was $130ish from key man at shopping centre - i asked around and the price was about the same everywhere.

but that was with me taking the key to them and using it to program a new one

they can cut a 'normal' key like the one you have to open the door for under $10, but that won't help you out.
