Cant decide on a 09 v6 Calais wagon 5 speed auto with 130000ks. Is it really worth it just cause of leather seats and a roof DVD player. Clearly I wont see the DVD player when I'm driving :).
2011 omega wagon 3 litre 125000
both $12000.
Any idea if the 5 speed auto is actually much worse on fuel than the 3.0 litre 6 speed auto? As claimed.
How about the same Calais compared to a series 2 SV6 wagon, same?
I mostly do highway.

Personally I would prefer almost any Series II over any Series I. If you do mostly highway the 3L 6 speed will give you much better economy. I would try to find a Berlina International or Equipe which will give you the best of both worlds - 3L plus Calais seats, wheels etc.

Thanks Noeleter
Berlina International or Equipe, they are the 3L aren't they?
I see you have the Equipe
what sort of consumption do you get?
Highway?
Combined?

The 3.6 litre 6 speed auto is not that bad on fuel. On a recent trip up the north coast my 3.6l did 8 litres per 100 kms travelling at 110 km/h with cruise control on and air con working. My wife's 3.0 litre 6 speed auto omega does a bit better than 7 litres per 100kms on the same trip. This was all read from the info displayed on the dash while travelling but I don't know how accurate this info is.

imo, go for a Series II?
Owning a Series I for a year half or so, I will never go back to a v6 series I.

If you are doing highway, almost all of the time, then you are in top gear.
So comparison of the top gear ratios.

If a same size engine has 5 or 6 gears and the top ratio is the same, then the fuel economy should be the same in top gear. Getting up to top gear is the difference.

Let your wallet decide.
