Had to do a brake pad change on the VT today as it looks like the original holden pads are still in it and not looking too flash.
As you know the caliper bolts can be bloody hard to loosen off especially if they have been loctited.
I got most of them off with a socket and a lot of bashing with a hammer on the bar but one of them was just not coming off and I was running out of energy and patience. And my neighbours were running out of patience with the bashing noises on a Sunday morning !

Then a light bulb lit up above my head.

I positioned the breaker bar so it was pointing to 9 oclock and placed a trolley jack under it to give it some extra force. It worked a treat, wish I thought of it sooner.

You can also use an 18" breaker bar pointed at 6 o'clock and push it with your leg - that's what I do.

Ring spanner + 4lb hammer.

If you want to be fancy, 18v impact guns are getting cheaper everyday. Don't know how i went so long without one. Best tool ever.

I bought a 12v impact wrench for $50. works a treat. jacking a breaker bar can end horrible when the socket slips and the bar goes flying.

Nah, just need a bigger hammer, or do as I did, I used one of those 3 kg plastic/rubber coated workout weights, only problem was the Wife was not too happy to see the rubber/plastic all mangled on one end of her workout weights.

A rattle gun is something I really want to have in my toolbox. Just need to decide which one. Cordless, 240v or air powered.
Hmmm, it's a nice problem to have !
