"My vz was starting and running but had a misfire"
What Cylinder ?

"I changed the pcm and now it cranks but wont start"

Put the old ECU back in, and see if it starts again,
check the -
Plugs and coils, (especially the Coils for any hairline cracks)
Connectors,
Loom and connectors

ECM, PCM, ECU... these terms are all thrown around a bit loosey.

In general, they can mean all the same thing, but certain manufactures do actually mean different things.
For GM/Holden, I would say they are the same:
ECM = Engine Control Module
PCM = Powertain Control Module
ECU = Engine Control Unit
Both ECM and ECU could also be titled as "Electronic Control Module/Unit" which is a more universal term written in some workshop manuals for various manufactures (Hence the confusion).

Anyways, a replacement ECU requires programming and security linking to your car for it to work.

Sorry for the confusion, i know very little about cars im just going off what i see and google lol. Ok quick rundown, ive got a guy to come program the ecu, the car than was cranking but not starting. Ive put the old one back in and it starts fine, drives fine until now. Now it cranks but only starts some of the time… i am so lost is it possible it could be a fuel problem because as i was driving the car was smashing thru fuel aswell

Now that you re-fitted the original ECU and it starting and is drivable,

Get it scanned and see what the faults are !
Then you can start to establish what is causing the faults..
