VT Clubsport 5.0
Hi guys, i'm looking at insuring my car asap.

My car is a vt clubby 5ltr and my only mods are a k&n pod, 2.5 sports exhaust, extractors, 20" rims and a slight mirror tint.
So pretty much bog stock at the moment :)

Who's the best to insure my car with?
I heard Shannons are good but expensive, is anyone with them?

Most insurance companies classify an exhaust as a performance mod and some wont touch you for this. So I would start by looking who will insure you and then narrow it down.

Your best bet would be to go to Shannon’s, because any other insurance company would be asking over $300 PM, because they classify Clubsports as a High performance car.

I'm with Shannons, and was surprised at how reasonable their premium was for my car
My VH is insured for $15000 (agreed value), I pay about $1000 per year for full comp
I haven't made any claims yet, so can't comment on that side of it.

im also with shannons. my VS is insured for $22,000 agreed value and i pay $920 per year full comp
with all mods listed, i also have never made any claims

i wont go past shannons now. they were great to deal with, and i was actually talkin to a guy that had knowledge about cars. not just some idiot behind a screen stuttering.

The specialist companies like Shannons are more flexible with what they will allow and what they wont.
The more mainstream companies like RAC or AAMI etc are less flexible but cheaper.

I note on your profile that you are 29, and I make the assumption that you arent a P plater either.. you may find it better to go with the mainstream insurers, your age will help.

This is an extreme example, I have added everything they listed in modifications except a 'non standard turbo'. I am in my 50s with an excellent driving record and insurance history, so for a car like this, its about as good as it gets. Most of the mainstream insurers will offer a similar deal. You obviously will pay more depending on your driving and insurance history, but I think its worth calling the mainstream guys, describing your mods, and getting a quote.

This one was from AAMI, sticking with their suggested agreed value of $7700.

When I bought my Alfa GTV no insurance company would insure me because I was under 30. Tried Shannons but they wanted a clean driving record for 5 years, so ended up with Justcars @ $3,000 per year...

we were with AAMI for both our cars
but this year changed to RACQ for one of them better agreed value
probably change the other when it is due
haven't claimed with either company so wouldn't have a clue what they are actually like
