sounds a bit dodgy, I guess looking online it's not the most expensive HU so you wouldn't have a lot to lose if you added another amp and the HU up and dies.

Only thing is to make sure you have enough pre-outs for the speaker amp. Hopefully someone else here will have a better idea of what's going on.

It would be very wise to pull the HU out and check all wiring to the speakers, and the wiring at the speakers as well.

Hmmm... Is it possible to get a single amp to power six speakers? Because I am thinking that if I go and buy an amp I'm gonna buy another pair of speakers as well for the rear doors.
So I'll have six speakers then.

You could try and put a multi meter across the speaker wires at the back of the H/U.
There should not be any dead shorts.
If there is a problem with the speaker wires shorting, putting a new H/U in will only stuff that one up too.

Found the problem last night.
A couple of the speaker wires had come loose and touched each other. But all fixed now :)
